Gajah Mada is a legendary engineering commander in Rise of Kingdoms with a Versatility, Defense, and Engineering talent tree. Gajah Mada is not that great and strong hero when you compare him with other commanders. The problem is that you have to use siege units and they need a lot of micro-management and specific ways of fighting.
Should you invest in the Gajah Mada?
No, you should not invest in Gajah Mada no matter if you are free to play or pay to win. There are a few reasons why we do not recommend investing in your legendary commander sculptures. Gajah Mada is a commander that uses siege units for range attacks which are not that great and to make range attacks work, you need a lot of skill and micromanagement. On top of that you are not able to swarm objectives.
Additional reasons are that you have to craft engineering equipment which can be quite expensive to get to a decent level. A lot of kingdoms do not allow training siege units because they want to drop in power to allow more people and to get easier KVK. Maybe in the future range units and siege will be improved but for now, skip Gajah Mada and save your legendary commander sculptures. You will get more value if you invest in cavalry and infantry commanders.

Gajah Mada Pairings
Gonzalo de Cordoba is the best commander that you can pair with Gajah Mada. Together they have great synergy and a lot of smite damage. If you do not have Gonzalo de Cordoba the only other option is Margaret. Margaret paired with Gajah Mada is decent but there is nothing special that will dominate. Do not use other commanders that are in the Rise of Kingdoms because they are not designed for range attacks and siege units.
