Barbarian Forts and Barbarians are neutral units, and if you destroy them, you will get great rewards. To destroy Barbarian Forts and Barbarians you will need action points. They will never attack you in the kingdoms. Higher-level barbarians and barbarian forts will have better rewards.
Barbarians
Barbarians 1–12 can be spawned near your city. Higher-level barbarians will be all over kingdoms. You can use a search to find them, but there is a limit to the range of the search function. If you can’t find any higher-level barbarians with a search, then just zoom out from the map and search for them manually.
Every barbarian will give you random rewards. You have a chance to get speedups, gems, resources, experience, and arrows of resistance. On the kingdom vs. kingdom map, you will have higher-level barbarians that will give you much better rewards.
To attack barbarians, you will need to have an action point. If you have problems with action points, you can check out our guide on how to optimize and get more action points.
Every attack on barbarians without returning the commander to the city will reduce your action points spent by 2, and the maximum is 10 action points. You can reduce the cost of barbarians further if you are using peacekeeping commanders. To get additional action points for destroying barbarians, you can use ROK gift codes.
Now we will talk about what commanders are best at destroying barbarians. If you are a new player, use the strongest commander that you have. We have a ROK tier list with the best commanders in Rise of Kingdoms.
But if you are an advanced player, you must use peacekeeping commanders to destroy barbarians because it will reduce your cost of action points drastically. You will be able to kill more barbarians, which means more rewards.
There are a lot of peacekeeping commanders that you can use: Aethelflaed, Minamoto, Belisarius, Keira, Markswoman, Cao Cao, Boudica, and Lohar. My advice is that you use Belisarius, Keira, Markswomen, Cao Cao, or Boudica. Most people do not have Minamoto, and if you do, you do not want to use his peacekeeping talent. Same for Aethelflaed. You can build Cao Cao as a peacekeeping commander because you will use him as a secondary commander in most PVP situations.
If you are looking for peacekeeping builds, you can find all commander talent tree builds.
Chain Farm Barbarians
If you didn’t know, you can chain-farm barbarians. For the cost of one barbarian, you can destroy more than five at the same time.
To chain farm barbarians, you will need a commander with AOE damage and a group of barbarians. The best commander for chain-farming barbarians is Yi Seong Gye because he has circular nuke damage, so you do not need to worry too much about commander positioning.
You can use commanders like Sun Tzu, Keira, Baibars, and any commander that has AOE skills. It will be a lot harder to deal with them because they do not have circular damage.
This is great to do in KVK. There will be a lot of barbarians who are close to each other, and rewards will be better.
Barbarian Forts in Rise Of Kingdoms
Now, barbarian forts are hard to do if you are in an inactive alliance, especially if you are a new player. If you are a new player, you will not have great technology and good commanders. You will be able to do forts 1, 2, and 3, but not forts 4 5, or 6 because they are much harder to destroy. So if you are a new player, I would recommend you see when players are online and ask them to start a rally on the barbarian fort. They will have better technology and strong commanders.
Few commanders are great for barbarians’s forts. The best commanders for forts are Boudica, Aethelflaed, Cao Cao, Minamoto, and Belisarius. They all have nuke damage, peacekeeping talent, and boost damage to barbarians.
We have the perfect list of the best rise of kingdoms commander pairs for barbarian forts, so you can check it out. It will help you drastically.
Barbarian Forts vs Barbarians
We could argue the entire day on the topic of who will give you the most value for the action point spent. At the end of the day, it comes down to your requirements.
If you need books of covenant to upgrade the castle, then you must do forts, but if you are looking for arrows of resistance, then you can do barbarians.
Now I will tell you what worked best for me while I was getting Tier 5 units.
I was doing barbarian forts because I needed books of covenant so I could upgrade the castle, and I also needed a lot of experience in upgrading commanders.
I would start destroying barbarians only when the Lohar trial event was activated because, during the Lohar trial event, you can get an insane amount of arrows of resistance and gems. When the Lohar trial ended, I would go back to farming barbarians.
During KVK, I would farm only barbarians because they will give you an insane amount of gems, and you can spend those gems on books of the covenant.
After I get my castle on level 25, I am doing only barbarians because I do not need books of the covenant, and barbarians will give me many more speedups and gems.
I would recommend that you only do forts until you get your castle to the max level.
First, you are a new player and you will take a lot of damage because of your technology, gear, skills, levels, etc. But with time fort lvl 4 and 5 will be a joke. You can use Cao Cao Or Boudica.
They will provide a lot of dmg. Faster you kill the forts, less damage you will receive. Also, use cavalry in a rally, get runes, buffs, gear. Also if you are planning to use Cao Cao max his first skill because it deals insane damage
